A strategic partnership: our contribution to Italy’s energy future

In the realm of energy, strategic partnerships and effective intermediation play a crucial role in realizing vitally important infrastructural projects. A recent example of this synergy has emerged through the efforts of Pipex Italia, which facilitated a fruitful collaboration between Snam and Corinth Pipeworks.

Snam, a leader in the Italian energy sector, entrusted Corinth Pipeworks with supplying 13 kilometers of longitudinally submerged arc-welded (LSAW) steel pipes for an offshore-onshore natural gas pipeline for the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) moored off the coast of Ravenna (Italy).

With a pipe diameter of 26 inches, the new pipeline is certified for transporting up to 100% hydrogen, promoting energy sustainability. The triple-layer coating of polypropylene and the concrete weight coating (CWC) provide durability and anti-corrosive properties to the pipes.

The value of the contract for this supply exceeds 10 million euros, highlighting the significance of a project of such scale and the collaboration between Snam, Corinth Pipeworks, and Pipex Italia in accelerating the transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
